Brief description of the object

The Hotel City Garden, with 82 rooms and suites, was inaugurated in January 2010 - the first hotel in Switzerland to be equipped with an EconAqua water mist sprinkler system.

The construction project was characterised by a very tight time schedule. The hotel was to be built in the shortest possible time: depending on the weather and construction progress, the construction works were to be completed ideally within ten months. This time schedule also had an impact on the materials and building structure used. The concreting works were limited to a base plate and vertical access cores. Moreover, no full basement was envisaged. The main part of the building was to be equipped with wooden elements that could be moved on site at short notice.

The EconAqua water mist sprinkler system was integrated harmoniously into the overall architecture, without compromising on the system's functionality.

Brief presentation of the EconAqua water mist sprinkler system

The special permit for the construction of the Hotel City Garden was subject to a particularly strict set of requirements in regard to technical fire protection.

On the basis of a study conducted by JOMOS Feuerschutz AG, an EconAqua water mist sprinkler system was conceived due to its advantages vis-à-vis conventional systems. The conclusive reason for choosing EconAqua was the significantly lower water consumption compared to conventional sprinkler systems.

The entire building was fully equipped with an EconAqua water mist sprinkler system. Mainly pendent sprinklers, and wall sprinklers in the rooms, were installed. The building was equipped with an EconAqua wet alarm system and 500 sprinklers. Water is supplied by a direct connection.
